Groundhog is open source multifunctional geological software. Among other things, it can be used to display and create boreholes as well as importing and exporting the data in AGS data format.
Groundhog Bytes courses cover a small part of the longer Groundhog course.
This training course comprises a mix of written tutorials and video demonstrations together with some exercises to work through at your own pace to gain skills in creating cross sections using Groundhog.
The course will start the Monday after you have ordered it - if you require a different start date please email judith@lqm.co.uk
Purchase of the course provides one person access to the course materials over a 4 week period. The course should easily be completed in a few hours but the longer access is provided so there is plenty of additional time to practice and refer back to the course materials when using Groundhog on real projects.
Public sector rates only apply to qualifying organisations (i.e. Local Authorities, Health Authorities, the Environment Agency, SEPA, etc.).
Other Groundhog courses can be found here.
- drawing cross sections freehand
- drawing cross sections using AGS data
- exporting cross sections as images for use in reports
Cross sections are an important part of creating as conceptual site model as described in the full Groundhog course and the Groundhog Bytes course on conceptual site models.
Delegates will need Windows computers (large display screens and mouse recommended)
- draw cross sections freehand
- draw cross sections based on imported AGS data
- exporting cross sections for use in reports
The course will be of relevance to anyone who needs to create or view borehole logs. Borehole and AGS functionality in Groundhog is more appropriate for small to medium datasets.
The course is particularly relevant to Consultants & SI Contractors but Regulators and anyone reviewing third party reports may also find it of benefit, as it includes details of how to create cross sections which is useful when understanding the results of reports.
This course is focused on using examples relevant to contaminated land management but is useful to any field where cross sections are used, particularly the geotechnical industry.
